Sri Lanka Child Neurology Association
Advancing Child Neurology for a Healthier Future
President’s Message
Dear Colleagues,
It is an honor to serve as President of the Sri Lanka Child Neurology Association (SLCNA). Our association is dedicated to advancing clinical care, education, research, and advocacy for children with neurological disorders in Sri Lanka.
Children are our future, and ensuring their neurological health is crucial. Paediatric neurological disorders, from epilepsy and cerebral palsy to rare genetic conditions, pose significant challenges for families. As professionals, we are committed to providing the highest standard of care, support, and hope.
SLCNA serves as a platform for collaboration, education, and innovation. We focus on continuous medical education, research, and advocacy to improve access to care and early interventions. Through workshops, webinars, and training programs, we enhance expertise among paediatric neurologists, paediatricians, and allied health professionals to ensure timely and effective care nationwide.
Research is fundamental to our mission. By collaborating with academic institutions, government bodies, and international partners, we aim to contribute to global knowledge while tailoring solutions to our unique local context.
Advocacy is another key pillar. Raising awareness about childhood neurological disorders influences public perception and policy. We work with professional colleges, policymakers, healthcare administrators, and patient advocacy groups to promote early diagnosis, intervention, and access to specialized care. Additionally, we empower parents and caregivers with knowledge and resources to better support their children.
We also believe in the power of friendship and fellowship among our members. SLCNA fosters collaborations and professional relationships as essential foundations for a strong and supportive community. I extend my gratitude to our members, partners, and supporters working tirelessly to improve paediatric neurological care in Sri Lanka. Together, we can make a meaningful impact.
Thank you for your commitment and support.
Warm regards,
Prof. Jithangi Wanigasinghe
